Granite District allocates classroom teachers $12.00 per student per year for supplies which include paper, crayons, copies, crafts, etc. In addition, teachers receive $1.50 per student for field trip transportation and admission. Teachers often rely on donations from parents to help fund additional classroom activities. Requiring a donation for participation in an activity is not permitted and no student will be excluded from a classroom activity because a donation was not received.
Due to changes in Granite District financial policy, no money is to be dealt with in the classroom. Therefore, during the month of September, the office will be glad to accept contributions from any parent wishing to make a donation to their child’s classroom. Donations will be used toward field trips and other activities that will enrich student learning. Please indicate the teacher that the donation is for the student and parent making the donation. The donation will be directly deposited in the teacher’s classroom account and the teacher will be notified. (This procedure will be followed for every contribution.)
There are many ways other than financially that you can contribute to your child’s classroom. Please feel free to discuss with your child’s teacher possible donation needs.
Thank you for your support and involvement in your child’s education. Working together, we can make a difference.
