What learning opportunities will students have at Connection High?
Students will have the option of personalizing and individualizing through participating in face to face or online courses.
What are face to face courses?
Face to face courses are “traditional” high school courses where students meet with teachers on a regular basis in a brick and mortar setting.
What are online courses?
Online courses are teacher led classes where students receive their learning opportunities from any location, at any time, delivered over the internet using a learning management software platform (Canvas). The course may be synchronous (participants interact in real time) or asynchronous (participants are separated by time, such as email, online discussions, collaboration software). The course may be accessed from multiple places (home, Connection High, satellite locations, etc.).
Where will the “brick and mortar” location be?
The current Granite Peaks High School building will be repurposed and used for Connection High School. The address is 501 East 3900 South, SLC, UT, 84107.
What will the face to face daily schedule look like?
This will be almost identical to all Granite School District high schools. The daily face to face class schedule will be an A/B block schedule. Quarters or terms and days in session will mirror all GSD high schools. Start time and end of day may vary slightly from other GSD high schools.
Will Connection High have late start Mondays?
Yes. It will be the same as all GSD High Schools.
Will Connection High have competitive athletics?
No. However, students may participate in athletics at their boundary school.
Can students take courses from Connection High and also from their boundary school?
Yes.
