Announcing the New Concurrent Enrollment Scholarship
Want to make your students’ hard work in high school work hard for them? It does at the U! We think that students who challenge themselves with college-level courses deserve not just the college credit, but a scholarship. Utah students with 9 credit hours of transferrable concurrent enrollment or High School University Program credits could be eligible for the Concurrent Enrollment Scholarship worth $3,000 per year, renewable for four years—plus, a campus employment option!
First year freshman applicants for 2024 automatically qualify for the Concurrent Enrollment Scholarship if they
- are a Utah resident;
- submit their University of Utah application and any supporting documents by April 1;
- submit their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by August 1;
- demonstrate financial need, based on the FAFSA;
- maintain a 3.2 unweighted GPA in high school;
- earn at least 9 hours of transferrable concurrent enrollment or High School University Program credits with letter grades of B- or better;
- have no other grant or scholarship assistance from federal, state, or university merit sources.
Best of all, no additional application is necessary. If your student qualifies, we will notify them this summer!

GENERAL INFO
Scholarships – The search for scholarships and the application process can be time consuming, but the payoff can be huge! Imagine if you spend 10 hours working on 10 scholarship applications. Even if you only earn one, $500 scholarship for 10 hours of work, it still amounts to a pay off of $50 per hour for the time invested.
Students should always apply for “Freshman Scholarship” opportunities at the school(s) that they are considering attending. This is the source from which most scholarship dollars are awarded. Some merit scholarship considerations are automatic with the completion of an admissions application; others require separate applications. Review each institution’s application instructions very carefully. Here are links to the freshman scholarship pages of local institutions of higher education that will help you get started:
