Parents and Guardians:
We are excited to begin school on Monday the 21st for all of our students. School begins at 8:25 a.m. (our normal Monday schedule) and runs until 2:20 p.m. Buses will run at their normal times each day school is in session including the GTI busses.
I have attached a safe-walking route due the construction located around the school. Please plan on extra time until the Mountain View Corridor is completed.
We ask that parents who choose to drop off their students enter at the North entrance on 5600 W. and exit at the South driveway back on to 5600 W. Another option would be to enter from the new Wolverine Way from 6000 W. and exit the same way or out on 5600 W.
Picking students up from school is usually the most congested part of the day. We ask that you use the same traffic route listed for drop-off but we do block off the bus lane of all traffic for the safety of our students. Many parents choose to park on 5600 W. and have their student meet them on that street. We do have a safety plan is place for students to walk through the parking lot to 5600 W.
If you do decide to enter the school we ask that, you report directly to either the Main office or counseling center prior to moving about the school. Please do not park in the Bus lane at any time because we have busses coming and going during the entire school day. There is visitor parking in the front parking lot including several parking spaces in the back of the school.
We will be giving all students a pair of Solar Eclipse classes on the 1st day so that they will have an opportunity to experience seeing the eclipse. Monday will be a modified schedule allowing an extended lunch so that everyone can enjoy this event.
If you would like to check out a locker or purchase a parking pass you may do so during the 1st two weeks of school. Tickets will be issued to all vehicles in the parking lot without a parking sticker after the 1st two weeks.
If you have a concern with your schedule, you should email your counselor and schedule a time to meet with them on Friday morning before 11:00 a.m. We will not be making any non-essential class changes after Friday so hopefully you have taken advantage of your opportunity to make changes during the last two weeks.
- During the 1st week, we will have our boy’s golf team compete on Monday at the Ridge Golf course.
- Girls’ Volleyball will compete at Taylorsville on Tuesday, Orem on Wednesday and against Ridgeline at Hunter on Thursday.
- Girls Soccer will compete on Tuesday at West and against Green Canyon at Hunter on Friday.
- Tennis will compete on Tuesday against Hillcrest at home and Thursday at Kearns.
- Sophomore football will play at home against Bountiful on Thursday and Varsity on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
Attendance is a large factor in the success of your student. Please use the parent portal to view your student’s grades and attendance so that they are successful with their goals. The following website will give you great information to help your student with attendance: http://www.attendanceworks.org/about/what-can-i-do/parents/
Welcome back and we will see you on Monday morning.
