Celebrations at Jackling
Academic Growth: All of our grade levels have seen growth between their “pre” and “post” benchmark tests. We are so happy about this and excited to see how well we will do on the end of year assessments.
End of Year Standardized Testing is Beginning/Parents We Need Your Help: Jackling Students will be taking very important tests over the next few weeks. The results of these tests will determine whether we remain in the turnaround initiative or not. You can help your child by:
- Making sure your child gets a good night’s sleep is important-this will assist your child in coming to school on time and ready to work to the best of their ability.
- Try practicing tested concepts and studying new words at home-Keep the sessions short and set small manageable goals that will help boost your child’s confidence.
- Remaining Positive-staying calm will help your child stay calm, if she gets nervous about tests or experiences anxiety during a test help her practice some relaxation techniques that she can try once she is taking the test.
- PTA: Jackling’s PTA is sponsoring a Dads and Donuts Reading Event on April 12th at 7:30am. This will be similar to our Moms and Muffins Activity and students can bring any adult with them, not just dads. Bring some favorite books and join us for donuts, milk, and fun.
Growth Mindset Tips for Parents: Encourage your child to forget taking the easy route (where little learning is done) and instead embrace challenges. A sheet full of questions he already knows the answers to won’t “grow the brain” like one deeper problem to solve (even if he doesn’t get the correct answer).
