Mill Creek families,
Thank you for a great start to a terrific year. Everyone is working hard and doing their best. We appreciate everyone’s dedication to our learning community. Thank you!
We especially want to thank you for choosing Mill Creek as the place where your child spends most of their days and where they can learn from some of the best teachers around. This learning community is a hidden gem to most. To all of us though, we know it’s a great place to learn not only academics but how to be a good friend to others.
Unfortunately, our student enrollment is down substantially from last year and from the given predictions that came out last spring. As a result, we are losing three teachers next week. These teachers will be going to schools within the Granite School District whose enrollments have increased from their spring projections. We will miss them greatly at Mill Creek but they will be welcomed with enthusiasm at their new school.
Losing three teachers impacts each one of us at Mill Creek. Some will be impacted directly, others indirectly. Right now, I cannot tell you the exact changes that will be made. What I can assure you is that your children continue to be in good hands and will receive a great education whether they are in the Dual Language Immersion program or in our traditional program. I can also assure you that the teachers remaining are dedicated to making this difficult transition as smooth and positive as possible for each and every student. We understand the toll this will take on students and their families.
We also need your help. We need you to understand the toll this will take on teachers. We need each family to support their child and their child’s teacher not only through this difficult transition but throughout the rest of this year. Please support these changes and keep the positive start of this year going!
On Monday, September 12, teachers will be officially notified (on Friday they will be given preliminary information) as to their teaching assignment and if it will be at Mill Creek. On Tuesday, parents will receive notification as to any changes that will directly affect their child. Wednesday will be the last day as we are currently organized and on Thursday students and teachers will report to their new classroom.
Parents who are available and would like to help out with students are welcome to contact the PTA. Our mighty PTA will be organizing volunteers to best support our teachers especially on Thursday. Please make sure you are signed up for PTA’s text Remind by texting @millpta to 81010 and reply with your name.

As a Dual Language Immersion school, this article from the University of Utah is exciting! While college seems a far way off for our students, in reality it is just around the corner. Join us for our Back To School Registration Night on August 11.
Come between 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm to register your child, meet your teacher(s) and purchase wristbands to enjoy the Carnival that will be set up on our playground.
Even if you’ve completed the preliminary registration, you still have paperwork to fill out and sign. It is very important that every parent and/or guardian of a Mill Creek student stop by to fill out the paperwork and complete the registration process.
