Good Evening Truman families. This is our update for the week of March 23.
On Monday, the 6th grade will be going on a field trip to the University of Utah. The bus will be leaving soon after school starts, so please be on time.
Tuesday, we present Truman Leadership Day. This is a day for students, faculty, Truman families, and community to celebrate all the kids have done and learned as we become a Leader in Me school. We will begin the celebration at 9:00 and parents are welcome to attend. We encourage the children to wear best dress as we will have district and local government officials attending. Also, if your student is a girl scout, cub scout or boy scout they are welcome to wear their scout uniform and participate in the flag ceremony. Please avoid Levi’s or shorts with the scout uniforms.
Friday is Kindergarten grandparents’ day. Morning and afternoon kindergarten classes will all come in the morning and are encouraged to bring a grandparent with them. There will be no additional kindergarten in the afternoon.
Friday will also be early day and will dismiss at 1:30.
Parents, we have three other matters we’d like to make you aware of.
We begin with a reminder of the dress code as the weather gets warmer. Shorts need to extend beyond the fingertips when the arms are placed at the sides. No tank tops or spaghetti straps are allowed without some other shirt over it.
Secondly, as we near the end of the school year, truancy is becoming an issue for many of our students as absences and tardies have accrued throughout the year. Please remember that school starts at 9:00 and tardy minutes are tracked at 9:05 when the tardy bell rings. Report cards will be coming out this week, so please make note of how many absences your student has. You can also keep track of your student’s attendance on the parent portal when you check grades. Call the school if you have any questions.
Lastly, we are currently preregistering students for next year’s kindergarten. If you have a student or a neighbor that will be 5 years old before September 1st, and have not already filled out the green intent to register form, please contact the school.
