We work as a community to create a supportive environment where students acquire the values, academic skills, and character traits necessary to lead productive lives.
Valley Junior High School has served the West Valley City Community since 1949. The school is located near the center of West Valley City. The school is proud to serve many second and third generation students. In 2004, a new building was added. Over the last few years the school has seen many improvements. New sound and lighting in the auditorium, new carpet and tile, a new parking lot, new auditorium seats, and air conditioning installed in every classroom and all lockers in the main building have been painted.
About 51 percent of the school is non-Caucasian providing a rich school heritage. Students come from many parts of the world. Many of the school staff are ESL endorsed and/or trained in Sheltered English Strategies. Valley Junior High is a Utah Behavior Initiative, and all students are supported with a systematic series of positive behavior supports. Students are welcome in a number of before and after school programs and activities supported by a 21st Century Grant.
New as of 2014-2015
Valley Junior has implemented a 5 x 5 block schedule, which means students have Math and English every day. This will improve student support and increase student success.
