West Valley students are preparing now for this year’s Student Assessment for Growth and Excellence (SAGE). To be a wizard, each student must prepare physically, emotionally, and academically to do his/her best in 2017. At school and at home each student will live a healthy lifestyle, read for 15 minutes outside of class each day, complete all assigned homework, be at school and on time each day, and work hard at school.
Training logs will be sent home for three weeks where students will report their good choices honestly by checking off a box for each day they fill ALL the requirements.
Students will be rewarded with a prize or special activity when the log is returned on the following Friday, for the previous week with 20 or more points out of the 24 possible. This allows students to also participate on the weekends for any points they may miss during the week. Be honest in your reporting. If you are absent or tardy, you will not earn “work-hard-at-school” points for that day. Count your fruits and vegetables and drink plenty of water. Go to bed on time! It takes focus and effort to be your best!
We hope each student will work hard to attain their personal best. Each student is important at West Valley. We are working together to improve scores and learn everything we need to know. Only grades 3-6 take the state SAGE. Younger students have other testing and can make gains on other assessments. Training and testing has begun.
