2017-18 Land Trust Funds Summary for Parents
During the 2017-18 school year Community Council allocated Land Trust funding for classroom instructional aides in each classroom during small group instruction to ensure students had sufficient practice opportunities to develop mastery of core concepts. Teachers met weekly in grade level team collaboration during the instructional day in order to analyze assessment data, adjust lesson plans, and plan interventions to meet needs of students. At least 2 instructional aides were utilized to support this collaboration time. Licenses for ST Math, a computer-based instructional tool, were purchased for use by teachers with their students weekly to supplement math curriculum and support spatial/temporal conceptualization of core math concepts with the goal of completing 75% of ST Math curriculum before end of year testing in grades that implemented it. School also purchased additional reading and math text materials for students who moved in during the school year and to supplement that which was provided by the district.
Community Council members help make important decisions on school programs and calendars, and approved the School Student Achievement Plan and Land Trust Plan. They are a valuable component in the structure of Academy Park. If you are interested in joining Community Council, contact one of the members.
