Dear Parents, Students and Staff:
As the new principal of Arcadia Elementary School, it is a privilege to have the opportunity to serve such an outstanding community. It is my desire to work with you, your child, and the staff to continue to foster an atmosphere of collaboration, to increase student achievement, and promote college and career readiness.
I am a native of Utah and have been serving in the Granite School District as a teacher and administrator for fifteen years. During my teaching career, I have worked as a special education paraprofessional, an elementary music teacher, junior high music teacher, Italian and theater teacher, and as a high school choir teacher. As an administrator, I have been an assistant principal in three elementary schools and two junior high schools, and was the principal of Plymouth Elementary for five years. Before I was an educator, I studied and sang classical voice (opera) and performed part-time with the Utah Opera Chorus. I have a bachelor’s degree in Italian Language and Literature/Vocal Performance, a master’s degree in Music and another master’s degree in Administration and Supervision.
From the varied experiences throughout my career, I have learned that the best method to increase and maintain high student achievement is to nurture the development of a strong school community where the principal, staff, and parents collaborate in order to best meet the needs of their students.
I truly believe strong partnerships between parents and staff lead to academic success for all students. Therefore, I invite you to visit our school regularly and to actively participate in your child’s education. This participation may come in a variety of forms including: Joining the PTA, working as a volunteer at the school, coming to Community Council meetings, checking your child’s homework and agenda on a daily basis, monitoring your student’s progress via Gradebook, attending school-wide events and communicating questions or concerns to me and the teachers.
Again, I am thrilled about being a member of this wonderful community and look forward to meeting each of you personally.
