The Great Kindness Challenge Week
We are so excited to share some pictures and responses to our participation in the Great Kindness Challenge last week (Jan. 22 – 26). In our efforts to create a consistent, positive message throughout our school and community, we participated in The Great Kindness Challenge. The Great Kindness Challenge is a positive, proactive bullying prevention initiative, that reaches millions of students during the last full week of January every year. This is a free program that engages students of all ages and adults in performing random and purposeful acts of kindness. It is a tool for creating a positive school environment.
Bacchus staff and students were invited to participate in our daily kindness theme and activity. We began the week with a Kick-off assembly and each student was given a Kindness Checklist with suggestions for random acts of kindness. Our daily themes were:
Crazy for Kindness – crazy hair/clothes day
Dreaming of Kindness – pajama day
Team Kindness – sports team shirt
Powered by Kindness – super hero
Kindness is the Bacchus Way – school colors
Students participated in writing “Kindness Matters” in the fence, a kindness writing activity, making kindness chains, and putting their handprint on our KINDNESS 24-7 365 bulletin board. The week was a fun week with a purpose. We hope to make this a tradition at Bacchus as we work to establish that kindness is the Bacchus Way.
