Beehive is launching a “Beehive Best” month of May designed to increase student attention on following our school expectations which are:
- Behavior expectations
- Keep hands, feet, objects, and unkind words to yourself
- Follow the directions of the adult in charge
- Stand and walk quietly inside the school
- Academic expectations
- Come prepared to learn
- Always do your best work
Students will be earning points toward participation in a variety of planned and spontaneous end of year activities. Each day, students will be able to earn 2 points; one for behavior and one for academics (work completion). When a “Beehive Best” activity is announced for students of a particular grade, those students that have earned 80% of possible points will be invited to participate. For example, if 10 days have passed and third grade is selected for a spontaneous “Beehive Best” activity, then the possible points would be 20, and any student in third grade with 16 or more points will be able to participate in the activity. Those students that do not have enough points will use the activity time to complete or re-do assignments or reflect on better behavior choices. During this work completion/reflection time they can earn back missing points. At the same time points that have been given can be taken away if students misbehave or refuse to complete assignments during this activity time.
We hope this fun and spontaneous addition to the last few weeks of school will encourage all students to work diligently and behave appropriately until the very last day.
Please contact the school or a member of the PTA if you would like to assist with any of the spontaneous “Beehive Best” activities this month.
