Bennion Junior High school is kicking off a new Kindness campaign. “Kindness is Cool Virtues” will be brought to students on Monday November 4. The first week of every month there will be a focus on kindness and virtues. Each day of that first week of the month, a new virtue will be announced during morning announcements with the definition and what that virtue means. Teachers will then talk with the students throughout the day and talk with students about the virtue and the meaning in their classes.
As teachers notice the students participating in the virtue of the day in any capacity, a “Top Cat” award is given to that student. At the end of the day, those students who have accumulated 4 “Top Cat” awards will go to the main office receive a rubber bracelet with the words “KIC-Kindness is Cool”.
Teachers have been given a larger poster to hang in their room with at least 50 virtues that they can discuss at any time during the year. The focus will be on five per month but at any time if a teacher witnesses a student portraying any of the other virtues an award can be giving to them.
We wanted to start this campaign to help further our student body in showing more kindness to their peers and to learn how positive virtues, can be an asset to them in their everyday lives.
At the end of the term, the Kindness committee will host an ice cream social for all students who have earned a KIC bracelet. We are hoping that the entire student body will participate in this kindness campaign and make this school the best it can be. We want all students and parents coming into this school to notice a positive environment which will lend itself to a better learning and teaching environment for all.
The following words are the November virtues:
