Bonneville Jr. High
Dear Bonneville Jr. High Patrons,
Happy New Year! We are almost at the halfway point in the 2018 school year. Wow, that went fast. The basketball intramurals have ended with Volleyball and Wrestling beginning in the third quarter. Both the boys and girls competitive teams represented Bonneville well in their respective interschool tournaments. The girl’s team won the District Championship. Way to go girls! Very exciting.
Our Viking Tree was a big success. Our students and faculty raised just over $1300.00. All the money went toward helping 14 local families including 35 kids ranging in ages from 6 months to 18 years old. We were even able to add 5 additional kids at the last minute due to the overwhelming generosity on our community. Between the Viking tree gifts and the money raised we provided the following items to the families: 43 pairs of pants, 50 shirts, 15 hoody’s, 4 Jackets/ coats, 3 pair of shoes/ slippers, 6 make-up/ nail polish sets, 18 toys, 4 art kits, 1 movie, 13 baby/ toddler outfits. In addition, we utilized our resources at the Granite Education Foundation to provide 17 gift cards for shoes, and 19 Santa sacks, which had a blanket, headphones, book, school supplies, and a gift card. We would like to thank all those who helped make this a huge success. Bonneville is truly a great place to be because of all of you.
We are looking for an afternoon apprentice custodian. The shift usually runs from 2:30 to 11:00pm. Advancement opportunities available. If interested applications available on the employment page of the Granite District web site.

Reality Town is almost here! This is a great educational experience for your students, where they get to experience a “real life” scenario and learn about careers and budgeting for a family. The Reality Town experience will take place on January 19th from approximately 8:40 until 10:20. We will need 40 parent volunteers to help us run booths during this activity. We currently have 5 parents signed up. To be a meaningful experience for your student, we need your help! If you can help, please contact the counseling center at 385-646-5126.
We also have a Utah Scholars presentation on January 31st. We will need 5-9 parents to help present information on Utah Scholars to our 8th grade students in their math classes. Training will be provided. If you are able to help, or would like more information, please contact the counseling center at 385-646-5126.
Has your student thought about taking a class at the GTI? The Granite Technical Institute (GTI) will be having an open house on January 25th at 4:30. This is a great opportunity to check it out! Go and see what classrooms look like, talk to students that have taken the classes, and meet with teachers.
Our 8th grade students will be taking a field trip to Cottonwood (Come to Cottonwood) on February 1st. They will get a chance to see different clubs and activities that are offered, as well as visit with some of the students that are involved in the activities. This will help them prepare for their transition to High School.
January’s Skill of the Month is Goal Setting. Please see the attached Parent newsletter for more information.
