Hello Bonneville Family,
I want to give a huge shout out to our Chinese Dual Language Immersion students who performed exceptionally well at BYU this week! Our students competed against high school teams from across the state—and they held their own, impressing judges and making us proud. Well done!
We are excited to announce our Best of Bonneville Night on Wednesday, May 21 at 6:00 PM, where we will celebrate the incredible accomplishments and progress our students have made this year. Various awards will be given that evening, including those based on a student application where points are awarded for participation in school activities throughout the year. All students are eligible and can pick up an application in the main office. If you will be receiving an award, an invitation will be sent to you. Applications are due by Friday, April 25.
Preserve the memories of this amazing school year by ordering your 2024–2025 Bonneville Yearbook! Pre-orders are available now in the main office for $20. Yearbooks will be distributed during our End of Year Memory Day during the last week of school.
We’ve received a few questions from parents and students about the district’s proficiency-based grading system. This system is not based on task completion, but rather on a student’s demonstrated level of understanding through assessments. If you’re curious about what this looks like in action, we encourage students and families to talk with teachers about the specific assessments used in class and how they measure learning.
Thank you for continuing to support our school community. I’m grateful every day for our Vikings—students, staff, and families alike.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Mr./Señor Bailey

2025 Boundary Study of Area 5 in the Granite School District is underway by the District’s Population Analysis Committee (PAC) and they are seeking input. Here is the information to best help you and how Bonneville Junior High is involved:
The study is focused on the elementary schools:
- This is an Elementary school study.
- Secondary schools are being notified because we start with a broad canvas to include everyone, but the focus is on Elementary boundary changes and closures.
- Boundary or feeder pattern adjustments to secondary schools could occur as a result of elementary changes.
Feedback:
Please take the time to learn about the process and how the study is completed prior to submitting your suggestions. Individuals may go to www.graniteschools.org/planning to get information about 2025 Population Analysis Studies & Data and to email boundaries@graniteschools.org or submit feedback through our form by clicking on one of the buttons on the website (see screenshot)
Talking Points program to help improve communication between families and school staff. This free tool bridges language barriers by allowing messages to be sent and received in families’ preferred languages. We hope this makes it easier for you to stay connected and engaged in your child’s education. Look for messages from your student’s teachers early next week, as they will be introducing themselves. We’re thrilled to offer this service and can’t wait to improve our communication with all our families!

Getting Started With Talking Points
Personal Electronic Devices Policy
This aligns with the Granite School Board’s decision for all K-8 students, encouraging face-to-face social interaction (as referenced in The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt, Ch. 5). Devices should be out of sight either in backpacks, lockers or left at home. If a device is seen or heard, it will be taken and held in the main office until the end of the day. Multiple violations will require a parent/guardian to pick up the device. Bonneville Junior High is not liable for lost or stolen personal devices.
