September 26, 2025School News

Hello Bonneville Family,

It’s been another great week at Bonneville Junior High!

Our students are jumping into exciting opportunities with Lego League and Underwater Robotics now underway. Next Tuesday, our Cross Country team heads into their District Championships—we’re proud of all the hard work they’ve put in this season. Both our boys’ and girls’ soccer teams gave it their all this past week, representing our school with heart and determination.

A special highlight was our 6th Grade Vehicle Day, organized by our Counseling Center. Students had the chance to explore different career fields by interacting with professionals and their vehicles. A huge thank you goes out to our community partners—Gold Cross Ambulance, Unified Police Department, Wasatch Lawns Mortuary, Boeing, UDAF, and the crowd favorite, SUU Aviation, who brought their helicopter. Our students walked away inspired and curious about future possibilities.

As a reminder, first quarter ends on Wednesday, October 15th. Students should check in with teachers about important dates for assessments and retakes during the week leading up to the end of the term.

We will be having our Annual Food Drive from October 6-9 during our Connection Week. We will be collecting non-perishable food items during morning drop off. If you would like to donate, please have your student give them to the staff and students waiting out front.

Teen Habits Reflection

Have you ever noticed how you “talk” to yourself? When challenges come up (and they always do), do you find yourself saying, “there’s nothing I can do,” or instead asking, “what options are available to me?”

The first response is reactive—leaving the outcome in the hands of others. The second is proactive—keeping the power of choice in your hands and opening the door to new possibilities.

This week, take a moment to notice your self-talk. Pay attention to the words you choose—you may find that small shifts in language can lead to big shifts in perspective.

(Adapted from The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, Personal Workbook, pp. 38–39)

As we wrap up another week, thank you for the continued support you show our students and staff. Bonneville is a special place because of the effort, energy, and care from our entire community. Wishing you a restful weekend and a positive week ahead!

Mr./Señor Bailey

Principal

Other Miscellaneous Items

Bus Pass Requirements: Beginning Monday, August 18, students who wish to ride a school bus will be required to have their Student ID/Bus Pass.

To check if your address is within a designated bus zone, please visit [LINK TO BUS VERIFICATION PAGE] and enter your address.

If you do not live within an approved bus zone but would like your student to ride the bus, you may apply for a Courtesy Bus Pass by completing the [COURTESY BUS PASS FORM]. If there are open seats available, a lottery system will be used to determine how many passes can be granted.

Important: Courtesy Bus Passes are typically not issued until a couple of weeks into the school year, so don’t delay—submit your form as soon as possible.

Locker – Would your student like a locker this year?  Please submit your request by selecting here.  Locker number and combination will be emailed to you within 48 hours.  It is not necessary for students to have a locker.

Personal Electronic Device Policy – In accordance with the Granite School District’s personal electronic device policy, all personal electronic devices are not to be seen from the 1st bell to the last bell of the day.  To ensure that we can fully focus on learning, personal electronic devices will not be allowed during the school day. We believe this policy will help create a more focused and productive environment for everyone. Students are not required to bring a personal electronic device to school and Bonneville Jr High is not liable for lost or stollen items.  If you choose to bring a device to school, please keep it in your backpack or locker on silent.  Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.  Students who wear a smart watch can wear this device during the school day as long as it does not become a mode of communication.

Personal electronic devices are not permitted in restrooms on campus.  If policy is not followed, then students may have their phone turned into the main office and a parent may be required to pick up the phone.
