Graduation Cords
-Graduation cords are a way to celebrate your hard work during high school. If you have earned certain academic achievements, you may qualify to wear a special cord at graduation. Here’s what’s available and how to apply:
- Honors Cord
- What it is: A gold cord worn over your graduation gown.
- Who qualifies: Students who have earned a 3.70 GPA or higher.
- How to get it: Your Honors Cord will be automatically added to your graduation bag (with your cap and gown) if you qualify.
- Diploma of Merit Cord
- What it is: A white cord worn over your graduation gown.
- Who qualifies: Students who turn in a completed Diploma of Merit application (located in the Senior Awards Packet).

- How to get it: Your cord will be automatically added to your graduation bag (with your cap and gown) if you qualify.
-Department/Subject-Specific Cords
- What they are: Cords awarded by individual academic departments to recognize excellence in a specific subject area.
- How to apply: Contact the lead teacher of the department for the subject you’re interested in. They can tell you whether you qualify and how to apply.
- The Volunteer For Good cord is automatically awarded if you meet the qualifications.
