Mandatory Graduation Practice – May 28, 9:00 AM – CHS Auditorium
In this practice, seniors will learn all the details of the graduation ceremony and what to expect on the day of. Do not wear your cap and gown to graduation practice – those are only to be worn at graduation or when taking personal pictures. Please refer to the graduation information sheet included in your cap and gown bag; a handout with more specifics (in English and in Spanish) will be given out at the graduation practice as well.
If you have questions or concerns about the actual graduation ceremony or day of graduation itself, please email your counselor, and she can answer anything you need. Once again, students are encouraged to invite everyone they want to graduation, as it’s not a ticketed event and there is room for all!

Upcoming Important Dates:
April 13th, 2026: Senior Awards Packet Presentation during Homeroom, by invite if you meet eligibility for Merit Awards. See Ms. Calton for details or view our AWARDS PRESENTATION.
The due date for submitting the Senior Awards packet is April 24th, by the end of the school day (Counseling Center).
Valedictorian and Salutatorian
The Valedictorian and Salutatorian are chosen each year from graduating seniors who meet the following requirements:
- Have a 4.0 GPA
- Student with the most passed AP classes – each completed class counts as one unit – is Valedictorian, runner-up is Salutatorian
- Highest ACT composite is a tie-breaker
- PSAT score is an additional tie-breaker if needed
- Effective for the class of 2027, CE classes will be counted in addition to AP classes. Each completed semester of a CE or AP class will count as one unit. Any CE or AP class that isn’t taken in its entirety – e.g. only one semester of an AP class or only one quarter of a CE class – will not be counted toward the total units
Credit Recovery Information
Seniors! Now is the time to make sure you are ON TRACK for graduation. Do not put off any credit recovery you may have. It takes about 30 hours to make up .25 credits. You can speak with your counselor anytime for help and assistance. Credit Recovery can be completed in a class (Study Skills or Directed Studies), and at lunch or after school in the Counseling Center.
Step 1: See your counselor for a YELLOW credit recovery referral form.
Citizenship Points (CPA) Requirements
Students graduating in 2026 must have a CPA of a 2.0 or higher to walk at graduation. You can earn CPA points by volunteering if you do not have a 2.0 or higher CPA. Please see your counselor and sign up for volunteer opportunities in the main office. The class of 2027 and subsequent classes must have a 3.0.
Pre-Order Transcripts
Seniors, it is time to order your final transcripts. Your transcript is a legal record of graduation, along with your diploma. Please order a transcript to be sent to you after graduation for your records. Also, if you are planning to attend college, you will need to send your final transcript to the college of your choice, or it will delay your second-semester course selection. Please be aware that some colleges will only accept transcripts sent through Parchment.
If you place your order before graduation, you will not be charged, but Parchment charges a fee after you have graduated.
When you order your final transcript, you will also want to change your Parchment email address to one you will use after leaving Cottonwood High School.
