Cottonwood High School receives Federal funding that supplements education services for our students who are most at risk for failing to achieve state academic standards in reading/language arts and mathematics. This targeted assistance program includes the following components:
- Identifies students who are failing or most at risk of failing to achieve State standards
- Prioritizes eligible students in rank order to provide services to those in greatest need
- Reviews progress of students on an ongoing basis and revises the list of students as necessary
- Establishes a staffing pattern and schedule of services provided by Title I
- Assists participating students in achieving challenging State academic standards
- Incorporates planning for students served into existing school planning
- Incorporates evidence-based methods and instructional strategies aligned with the core program
- Ensures primary consideration is given to extending learning time for identified students
- Provides an accelerated, high-quality curriculum
- Minimizes the removal of students from Tier I classroom instruction during regular school hours
- Coordinates with and supports the regular education program
- Provides opportunities for professional development are provided for instructional staff
- Includes strategies to increase parent engagement
