Dear Families,
We are now a few weeks into the school year and things are going so well! I am so happy to be at Crestview! I am impressed by how supportive this community is of your children, our teachers, and the school as a whole. I truly feel a sense of community and can clearly see that we are all in this for the best interest of the students. Thank you for helping me feel so welcomed at Crestview!
Thank you for your attention to safety procedures during pick-up and drop-off each day. Our main priority during this time is the safety of our students. Please continue to help remind your children of safe walking procedures as well as crosswalk and parking lot safety. We would like to remind you to keep pay close attention in parking lots so you can help ensure safety of our students as well as to keep traffic flowing to prevent back-ups.
We look forward to starting mindfulness classes in each of our classrooms in the next few weeks. We have the benefit of having a great staff to support the mental health of all of our students. Sara Dillon and Derek Robison are our social workers, Brittany Nielsen is our mindfulness teacher, Jen Barton is our behavioral health assistant, and Katie Young is our school psychologist. Each of these professionals is here for your children to help them be healthy and happy to ensure that they can learn at the highest levels possible. Feel free to reach out to them as needed. All emails are linked on our school website directory.
Thank you for making this a great community. I am truly happy to be here! Please feel free to reach out to me at any time so I can know how I can help make Crestview the best place for your child.
COVID-19 Updates
If you have any questions about current COVID guidelines please see the website for the state https://coronavirus.utah.gov/education/
At Crestview, we will continue to follow the state guidelines and protocols from last year in order to keep our students safe. Please remember that information is constantly being updated and we will pivot as needed.
- Face masks: Although highly encouraged, masks are not being required for students or staff. If your child needs a mask please come to the office before lining up in the morning. If you would like a KN-95 mask please speak with Ms. Winn to get one. Extra masks in your child’s backpack can be helpful in the event that they get their mask dirty or wet. Masks should be washed daily. If you have any questions or concerns about masks please reach out to your child’s teacher or Ms. Winn.
- Volunteers: We are excited to welcome back parent volunteers! Volunteers will need to be scheduled with classroom teachers. Although masks are not required, we HIGHLY ENCOURAGE all volunteers to wear a mask when working with students. We also ask that you sanitize and/or wash your hands before working with students.

Fishing Emails and Texts
We are seeing an increase in scams through email, as well as an increase in scams through text. Please be aware that I will never ask you to use personal funds or to get gift cards for me. If you are unsure about whether or not something is from the school or from me personally please contact me.
Lunch
School lunches are paid for this year by a grant from the federal government. Wahoo! If your child brings a home lunch and buys a milk, it is not free. It is a $0.40 purchase. If your child gets a school lunch the entire meal is free. If you pay on PayPams we have seen problems with not being able to get a refund. The good news is that this money will roll over to next year and you will be able to keep that money in your account for next year when we will be charging for lunches again.
School Community Council
School Community Council elections will be held on September 14, 15, and 16, 2021. Please watch your emails for ballots!
Currently we have 2 vacancies available to serve for the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 school years.

Thank you and we look forward to a great year!
Sincerely,
