Dear Parents,
In accordance with legislation that went into effect beginning in the 2016-2017 school year, Crestview Elementary students will be participating in body safety and abuse prevention training during the week of January 28th. We have chosen to use Prevent Child Abuse Utah (PCAU) as our body safety and prevention training provider.
The PCAU school-based body safety and abuse prevention training addresses all aspects of child abuse including physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse and neglect. The program consists of classroom discussion, visual aids, videos and other interactive activities such as role playing. The content focuses on specific core curriculum objectives designed to increase a student’s knowledge about what constitutes child abuse. Students learn why, where and how to report child abuse, safety strategies and who they can talk to if they, or someone they know, are being abused. The PCAU curriculum is approved by the Utah Board of Education and Utah Department of Human Services.
For more information about this training you may contact Sara Dillon, Crestview School Social Worker or Gwen Knight, MPA with PCAU, 801-393-3366. A copy of the curriculum is available to view in our main office.
If you do not want your child to take part in the body safety and prevention training please return the opt out letter (sent via email with January Newsletter, or paper copy sent home on January 9th).
Thank you,
Crestview Elementary
