Our school community council elections are coming up fast. Most patrons aren’t aware of what school community councils are and what they do. Our local school community council is a committee made up of parents and teachers who work to address and enhance our academic and learning environment here in our community.
The time commitment is around one to two hours a month for a regularly scheduled monthly meeting through the school year. Our council reviews data, sets goals and allocates funds From Utah’s LAND Trust Fund to improve academic achievement. We also work to ensure a safe learning environment for our students.
If we have more candidates than vacancies on our council, then state law requires an election. We sincerely appreciate your interest in providing needed feedback and input in our school. There are currently three vacancies for this school year. Candidates are elected for a two year term.
I have attached a candidate declaration form for interested patrons. Please let me know if you have any questions. Declarations of Candidacy are due August 29th, by 3:00 PM to the principal or assistant principal. Elections will be held September 17th, 18th, and 19th.
