People of the Pacific

  • Advisor: Ms. Smith
  • About: We are focused on students learning to appreciate their own cultures and sharing it with our Granger student body and the community.  We do a lot of service projects for example; we tutor Junior high students at West Lake Jr. High during our 2nd quarter, we have performed dances from our Polynesian cultures for several district events here at Granger High School, we have also entertained residents of several nursing homes here in West Valley during Christmas times, and we also sponsor a Multi-cultural volleyball tournament annually.  This year we will hold this event twice, in the beginning of the year and at the end of the school year.  The main objective behind this volleyball event, is to encourage students from different ethnicities, to get together and get to know each other in a fun and non-threatening way.  Last year we made an effort to host a Relay for Life here at Granger, and was mostly run by our POP students and the students from the Latino in Action club. Another big part of our club is to encourage our Pacific Island students to take their academics seriously and to develop leadership skills within our Granger environment and in the community.  We do all this so we can help motivate students here in Granger to change the culture of our school for the better.
