Dear parents,
VETERANS DAY: Honoring veterans is important to me and to our school community. This week, your student will bring home a flyer that explains one way your student can be involved in our upcoming Veterans Day celebration. These will be collected to create a veteran picture wall in our school. Starting next week, we invite you to send your student with a picture of a family member who has fought for freedom. With this picture, we invite students to answer some prompts about this person they are honoring. These pictures will be returned to students, but it is recommended to send a spare copy of the picture in case it gets lost. Your student’s English teacher is also encouraging them to enter a student essay contest about honoring veterans. Entries are due October 18th.
EARLY OPEN ENROLLMENT: Please click the link below to read our document regarding your options for school choice (open enrollment). Please note this document includes information in English and Spanish.
INFORMATIONAL FLYER: Also, in the links below is information that I desire to send out about the rights of undocumented and immigrant students and families. In short, there is no distinction made at a school level based on these statuses. It is important for you to know your rights, and I believe these documents, provided by our district, do a good job of explaining them.

PARENT SURVEY: Thank you for being willing to give your feedback on surveys sent out. They take only a few minutes but provide the school with your valuable insight as to how we can improve. If you have a student in the 8th grade, please take a moment and complete this online GEAR UP survey: https://mhs.xcaliburscribe.com/Portal/Surveys/SurveyIdentificationVerification.aspx?ID=81. Thank you.
PTSA MEETING: Our next Parent Teacher Student Association meeting is this Thursday, October 10th at 3:30 in the conference room accessed through our main office. We hope to see many of you there!
As a reminder, we have no school on Thursday, October 17th and Friday, October 18th.
Thanks,
Aaron Wilson
