PRINCIPAL’S WEEKLY MESSAGE
It is hard to believe that it is almost the end of the 1st term which will be on 10/20/20. Please review the information provided to help your students be prepared for the end of the term:
10/19 Regular school day for face-to-face learners
10/20 Distance Learning Day for all students
10/21-10/23 No School/Teacher Prep Days
10/26 Start of Term 2
Please contact individual teachers if your student needs help submitting assignments or if you have any questions. Teacher contact information can be found on our Website, Canvas and Gradebook.
For parents of students that are receiving distance learning instruction, we need to have your child accessing their classes every day in order to keep up with the curriculum and their peers. Parents, one item of note is that teachers are required to teach face to face daily and may not be able to answer on-line questions or emails immediately. Our goal is to have our teachers respond to questions within a timely fashion, usually within a day or two.
Thank you for being a partner in the learning of your children. We are doing our best to help every child succeed and want to work with you to make sure each child is successful, no matter if they are distance learning or are learning face to face.
Learning Modality Options
As we begin to prepare for the beginning of our 2nd term, I am sure many of you have questions relating to changing your student’s current learning modality (face-to-face or distance learner). We will keep your student in the same learning modality that they are in when the 1st term ends on 10/20. If you would like to make a change to your student’s learning modality, please contact our school (385-646-5174) so we can discuss options. Our goal is to have every child be safe and to receive the best education possible. We are happy to help you with your student’s needs.
At Granite Park we have several opportunities for parents to get involved. We will have our first Community Council meeting of the year on 10/13/20 at 3:00 pm. Parents you are invited to attend this meeting, either in person or online using Google Meet (access code: graniteparkscc).
We will be reviewing the following topics:
• Rules of Order and Procedures
• Discussing of our Landtrust Plan
• Review of our Title 1 Plan Goals
o Review our Parent Compact Policy
Another opportunity available is serving on our PTSA. Our PTSA is involved in promoting several student success programs (e.g. technology safety, Battle of the Bands) and recognition activities (e.g. Honor Roll). If you are interested in joining our PTSA please contact our PTSA President, Patty Parry. She can be reached either by text message, 801-245-9521 or by email, firstname.lastname@example.org
Weekly Student Progress Reports
Parents, each Friday you will be receiving a weekly assessment and attendance message for your student. This message will also include information from teachers relating to what is going on in their classrooms on a weekly basis. The weekly message will also include the Principal’s Weekly Message. Please watch for the emails and use the information provided week as a topic of discussion with your student.
Our school continues to develop ways to help students and parents manage Canvas successfully. Please refer to our school website for supports. You can also access our district technology support site for more information. Here are some other Canvas related trainings.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. I look forward to working with you and your student(s) this year.
