Lockers, Backpacks and Lunches

All students at Granite Park will be provided with a binder and a planner. These items need to be brought to school every day to ensure they are prepared to learn.

Starting August 24th, backpacks will no longer be allowed at school. If a student does bring a bag to school, the school will hold the bag until the end of the day for the student.

If your student needs a locker due to special circumstances, please contact the school so we can make arrangements for students to get a locker and discuss locker responsibilities.

All students at Granite Park will receive free breakfast and lunch each day. Since we do not allow backpacks or lockers, we have a system where we collect home lunches for students and put them in a secure fridge until it is time for lunch. Students who bring home lunches to school will need to drop off their lunches before school in the main office.

Bus Information

All our students will receive their school ID/Bus Pass on Monday, August 17th.

Starting August 24, 2026, only students with an ID that shows they should be on a particular bus will be allowed on the bus. Students must show their ID each time they board the bus, or they will not be allowed to get on the bus to and from school.

Students who do not qualify for a bus can fill out a “courtesy rider” application that may allow the student to ride the bus nearest to their home. The number of “courtesy riders” allowed will be determined the start of September.

Upcoming School Events

August 17 – August 21	WOW (Week of Welcome)	Our SBOs have created fun activities for students to participate in this week to help welcome them back to school. We will also have an assembly on Wednesday afternoon. This is a great way to start the school year and help all of our students feel welcomed.

School Registration Information

Window open July 31st. School registration is required and must be completed for your student to attend school. Our district has moved to an online registration process using the FOCUS Parent Portal.

If you haven’t registered your students, please contact the school for help. Register through the FOCUS Parent Portal registration information.

Fee Waiver

Fee waiver applications are due on or before Friday, October 30, 2026.

To qualify for fee waiver, you need to bring in documentation that your student receives ONE of the following:

SSI — Supplemental Security Income
AFDC — Aid to Families with Dependent Children
FC — Student is in foster care under Utah Gov. Supervision

Bus Information

Students in Granite School District will have 1.5 weeks from the beginning of school to get their student IDs which will identify if they qualify to ride a bus and what bus they will ride.

After the 1.5 weeks (starting August 24, 2026), only students with an ID that shows they should be on a particular bus will be allowed on the bus.

August 10th	6th Grade Orientation (see flyer below)	We invite all our incoming 6th grade students to join us to learn about our school. Students will learn school expectations, take a tour, meet teachers, eat lunch and much more. Students and parents can ride the bus to and from school. Buses will stop at all designated bus stops. The bus will arrive at each stop 2 hours past the assigned pick-up time (e.g. 7:30 am for normal days and 9:30 am for 6th grade orientation). August 10th	Hot Dog Hello 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm (see flyer below)	Students can come pick up their class schedule, meet their teachers and find out where their classes are. We will also be providing those attending a hot dog meal. Families are welcome; come join the fun as we start another school year.

School Financial Related QR Codes

We are asking that all families make sure to apply for Free/Reduced lunch. In previous years, our school received a grant that paid for all meals for all students. We do not know if we will continue to receive this grant for the upcoming school year.

Upcoming School Events

10 de agosto 10:00 a. m. – 12:30 p. m.	Orientación de 6.º grado	Invitamos a todos nuestros estudiantes entrantes de 6.º grado a acompañarnos para conocer la escuela. Los estudiantes recibirán información sobre las expectativas escolares, harán un recorrido, conocerán a los maestros, recibirán su horario de clases y almorzarán, entre otras actividades. Los padres son bienvenidos, y se proporcionará transporte en autobús hacia y desde la escuela. Los estudiantes deben ser recogidos puntualmente a las 12:30 p. m.
10 de agosto 5:00 p. m. – 6:30 p. m.	Evento de Regreso a Clases (Hola Hot Dog)	Los estudiantes pueden venir a recoger su horario de clases, conocer a sus maestros y averiguar dónde están sus clases.
