{"id":334,"date":"2015-11-23T09:25:30","date_gmt":"2015-11-23T16:25:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/schools.graniteschools.org\/gti\/?page_id=334"},"modified":"2026-09-09T13:34:08","modified_gmt":"2026-09-09T19:34:08","slug":"attendance","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/schools.graniteschools.org\/gti\/attendance\/","title":{"rendered":"Attendance Policy and Procedure"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Granite Technical Institute<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"h4\"><strong>The Granite Technical Institute takes great pride in a student body that attends school regularly.\u00a0 Good attendance is the first step in having a successful high school experience.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Attendance Procedure:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Teachers should conduct roll call following the tardy bell for each class and carefully record attendance on the grade book program. This should be done during self-starter class time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A computerized home call will be made from this list during the evening of the day of the absence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Parents or Guardians may excuse a student\u2019s absence by:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sending a note with the student; including the date missed &amp; student # to bring to the GTI office <strong>(with in the 5 day time period)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Calling the office 385-646-4350 or fax a note 385-646-4347 please have student # <strong>(with in the 5 day time period)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>All absences must be excused within 5 days of the student\u2019s return to school. <\/strong>Absences not excused within the 5 days will remain unexcused.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Granite School District defines excused and unexcused absences below:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Excused absence <\/strong>&#8211; Personal illness, death in the family, family emergency, court appearance, serious circumstances at home, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Long term illness <\/strong>&#8211; The parent\/guardian should contact the school; a statement from a physician is required.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Unexcused absence <\/strong>&#8211; Oversleeping, assisting with home responsibilities, babysitting, vacations, deer hunting, sluffing, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Prearranged absences <\/strong>&#8211; Occasionally a student will miss school for brief periods of time during the year. In these situations, parents must contact the school to make arrangements for make-up work prior to the student\u2019s scheduled absence. Students are responsible for all class work and assignments missed. Prearrange absences should not occur during the final days of any term.
