{"id":11,"date":"2013-02-15T14:55:24","date_gmt":"2013-02-15T21:55:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/schools.graniteschools.org\/hartvigsen\/?page_id=11"},"modified":"2025-10-08T11:26:17","modified_gmt":"2025-10-08T17:26:17","slug":"about-us","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/schools.graniteschools.org\/hartvigsen\/about-us\/","title":{"rendered":"About Us"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Hartvigsen Huskies<\/h2>\n\n\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Mission<\/strong> Statement<\/h2>\n<p>We are here to educate, empower, and encourage our community to create fulfilling lives.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Belief Statements<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>We Believe:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Caring and sharing contribute to a positive environment;<\/li>\n<li>We all have the right to work\/learn in a safe environment;<\/li>\n<li>Each individual has worth and potential and deserves to be treated with respect and dignity;<\/li>\n<li>Each student is unique and has the right to learn from success and failure;<\/li>\n<li>Every student shares responsibilities in the learning process;<\/li>\n<li>Open communication leads to understanding; and<\/li>\n<li>A team is built on the cooperative efforts of individuals.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Motto<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">One Team, One Goal: Educate, Encourage, Empower<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>History<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Hartvigsen originally was called the Granite Training Center, and was located at the old Rotary Center on 7th East. \u00a0During the 1970-71 school year, that building was condemned and the program was relocated to Upland Terrace Elementary and the Habilitation Center (now the Hilda B. Jones Center) for the remainder of that year on split sessions. \u00a0The next year, they were located at Upland Terrace and East Millcreek Elementary, again on split sessions. Construction for the Baird Avenue Building was approved in 1971. \u00a0Later, a Secondary Building and pool were added. \u00a0Construction was completed in 1972. \u00a0The school was named after former superintendent Elmer J.
