Dear Students, Parents, and Staff,
WELCOME BACK!!! It is wonderful to be together again! We would like to welcome four new teachers into the Hunter Family: Cindy Kohler, 4th grade; Mary Gibbs, 4th grade; Kim Dillingham, 5th grade; and Nakeesa Keyvani, Kindergarten. These are talented teachers that are a tremendous addition to our faculty!
We have several exciting things that are happening at Hunter Elementary this year. We have been awarded a Transformational Technology grant that provides a Chromebook to each of our 577 students to use at school. This is great news and we are thrilled to have this technology available for our students! We also have been awarded a continuation of our math software grant, ST Math. This is our 4th year receiving this grant, and the students are showing tremendous growth through the use of this tool. We will now add Lexia Learning as a software tool to use in English/Language Arts. This will help our students with reading and writing! We were recently notified that our application for Fresh Fruit and Vegetables has been approved, so each Tuesday and Thursday the children will be receiving a delicious piece of produce. This is a treat that we have enjoyed for the last three years, and we are excited to receive it yet again!
This year the Granite Education Foundation provided each student at Hunter Elementary with a free backpack filled with great supplies! What a fun gift with which to start the school year!
During SEP Conferences this fall, on September 26th from 4-7 pm there will be Flu Shots provided through Community Nursing Service in our lunchroom area. Come and get your family members their flu shot on 9/26/17.
We are always concerned about safety at Hunter, so please remind your children that we only have one crosswalk on 5400 West, and that is in front of the school. Please encourage your children to cross ONLY at the crosswalk.
Thank you for trusting us with providing your children’s education. We love each of our Hunter Knights, and we look forward to a wonderful year together!
Sincerely, Kayla MacKay, Principal
