Hello Hunter Families!
Welcome back! We are so happy to see all our students’ smiling faces back here at Hunter Elementary. Winter Break seems to come at the perfect time—just when we all need a bit of a break and a chance to recharge and gear up for the new year. We all feel refreshed and ready to do great things in 2019!
We are just about halfway through the school year—Term 2 finishes up on January 10. This is a great opportunity to remind your student of good listening and study skills and to set a goal to do a little better and achieve a little higher than before. Remember with Proficiency Based Grading (PBG) a 3 is hitting the target! Look for 3s on report cards and celebrate each one you see!
Speaking of celebrations, we want to give a shout out to our awesome Safety Patrol! The 6th graders who take on that responsibility do a wonderful job! They take seriously the charge to keep our school and students safe before and after school. When you see a safety patrol student on the playground or at the crosswalks, please give them a high five for their hard work! We are so proud of each of them!
We are in the thick of the winter season and it is cold outside! We will continue to hold recess outside everyday unless it is below, or feels below, 20 degrees. Please send your child with the proper winter clothing to be able to go outside, play, and get some needed fresh air and exercise! Send him/her with:
- Winter coat
- Boots/high-top shoes
If you do not have proper warm clothing for your child, we are happy to provide you with some. Let us know and we can get you the needed winter gear.
It was nice to see so many of you at our holiday singing performance in December. We love to have parents and families be a part of our school day. Please let us know if you would like to volunteer in your child’s classroom or if you have questions about things that are happening.
Thank you for sending your children to Hunter Elementary!
