Hunter High School has elected to use Canvas to set up scheduled times on both nights in 7 minute increments. Teachers will remain in their classroom to make phone calls home or complete a virtual meeting if they choose to do so. No in-person visits will take place on those two days. At the time of your appointment, the teacher will call the number listed on the reservation and/or open the virtual meeting room for you to join. If time slots fill up, then students/parents may send an email to the teacher with their specific questions.
When can students/parents begin signing up for appointments?
Through the student’s Canvas log in, sign ups can begin as early as Tuesday, September 15th. Teachers have been instructed to have their sign ups on their calendar all ready to go by Wednesday, September 16th at 8am.
How does a student/parent sign up to meet with their teacher(s)?
How can the student and parent best prepare for their virtual conference?
Before your appointment, we highly suggest you do the following:
1. Look at your student’s grades on Canvas &/or Gradebook. No grades will be printed and given to students or parents due to the COVID Pandemic.
2. Create a list of questions that you specifically want to discuss with the teacher.
3. Charge your phone ahead of time so that the battery doesn’t cut out during your conversations. Make sure that you are in an area that you can communicate clearly with the teacher when they call. If the teacher calls at the time of your appointment and there is no answer, the teacher will move along to the next appointment.
4. If you will be meeting virtually with a teacher, have the necessary apps or tech devices ready to go.
Will the counselors be available to meet with on those two days?
Yes. You have a Canvas class called “HHS-Counselor-[Counselor Name]”. You may need to accept it to join. Just like you do to schedule with your teacher, you can schedule an appointment with your counselor through that class. Similar to teachers, no in-person visits will take place.
