Parents, thank you for your interest in volunteering at Jackling Elementary. So far, we have the following volunteer opportunities available. We will update you as more opportunities become available (individual classroom volunteer opportunities will be in October). Please read the description of each opportunity and indicate AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE if you’d be willing to help with one of these opportunities.
PTA President
- Chairing Board and general meetings;
- Overseeing fiscal compliance;
- Serving as a liaison with school administration or community partners;
- Checking in regularly with officers and committees to ensure the overall plan is on target;
- Identifying challenges and inviting solutions;
- Familiarizing yourself with all PTA programs and resources;
- Representing PTA to the community;
- Recruiting and mentoring volunteers and future leaders; and
- Volunteering at events, when available.
PTA President Elect
- Same duties as president, but for the 2022-2023 school year.
- This year the president elect would shadow the president as much as possible and learn the job duties.
PTA Treasurer Elect
- We have a treasurer for this year already, so you would just shadow this year’s treasurer and learn the duties for next year:
- Keeping accurate records and submitting written financial statements for meetings;
- Chairing the Budget Committee, which prepares and monitors the annual budget;
- Ensuring an audit, financial review, or compilation is done in accordance with the bylaws;
- Preparing an annual report to be used to review your PTA financial records;
- Filing your PTA’s 990 report to the IRS on time—if your unit is a 501(c)(3);
- Submitting state-level reports and filings as required;
- Overseeing proper handling of money, such as ensuring money is collected, counted, recorded and deposited promptly and appropriately; and
- Ensuring financial checks and balances are in place at all times.
PTA Secretary Elect
- We have a secretary for this year already, so you would just shadow this year’s secretary and learn the duties for next year:
- Working with the President to create a meeting agenda;
- Sending out meeting announcements, agendas, and supporting documents;
- Taking attendance and checking for quorum (minimum number of members who must be present to conduct business at a meeting) during voting;
- Presenting the draft minutes of the previous meeting, making any corrections and ensuring approved minutes are included in your PTA’s permanent record; and
- Taking minutes, including counting and recording any votes.
PTA General Volunteer
- During the school year general members have the opportunity to help support fun activities for our students such as and would attend monthly meetings on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 3:15 p.m. (these activities will not be provided to students unless the PTA has a sufficient number of volunteers).

- Santa’s workshop
- School spirit week
- School fundraiser
- Teacher appreciation week
- Field day
School Community Council Member
- School Community Councils are elected parent/guardian and employee representatives who work together with the Principal to increase student achievement.
- By law, the Council is responsible to review school data and develop plans for school improvement.
- Councils also allocate the LAND Trust funds to assist the school in reaching achievement goals – this year Jackling Elementary has been allocated $55,516 to help students.
- The council meets once a month for an hour after school and needs to meet a minimum of four times a year.
- Dates and times of meetings will be determined once all the members are elected/selected so we can accommodate everyone’s schedule.
Lunch Recess Supervision
- Volunteers are needed every day from 11:10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
- Volunteers remind keeps to play safe and follow playground rules.
- You can also apply for to be paid for $10 and hour to provide daily supervision at lunch recess. Currently, two paid positions are available.
