Candidacy and election procedures begin before each school year.<\/p>\n<p><b>Invitation to serve on the council:<\/b> We warmly invite parents to serve on our school&#8217;s community council. Information about council vacancies, declarations of candidacy forms, and elections are emailed sent out in August of each year.<\/p>\n          <p class=\"gsdscc-members-note\">\n            Contact class=\"gsdscc-rules-accordion-body collapse p-3\">\n            In accordance with Utah Code \u00a7 53G-7-1202, the responsibilities of the council include:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Creating all components of the School LAND Trust Plan, to include the Goal Statement, Academic Area, Measurement, Action Plan Steps, and Expenditures.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Advising and making recommendations to school and school district administrators and the local school board regarding:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>the school and its programs<\/li>\r\n \t<li>school district programs<\/li>\r\n \t<li>a child access routing plan<\/li>\r\n \t<li>safe technology utilization and digital citizenship<\/li>\r\n \t<li>other issues relating to the community environment for students<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Partnering with the school\u2019s principal and other administrators to ensure that adequate on and off campus Internet filtering is installed and consistently configured to prevent viewing of harmful content by students and school personnel.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>In accordance with state board rule regarding school community council expenditures and funding limits: working with students, families, and educators to develop and incorporate safety principles at the school, and holding at least an annual discussion with the school\u2019s principal and district administrators regarding safety principles.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Providing input to the school\u2019s principal on a positive behaviors plan.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\n          <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n        <div class=\"gsdscc-rules-accordion border border-1 secondary-color-border mb-2\">\n          <h3 id=\"rules-member-expectations\" class=\"gsdscc-rules-accordion-header h5 mb-0\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"gsdscc-rules-accordion-toggle collapsed secondary-color-bg secondary-color-bg-dark-hover text-white p-1\" data-bs-toggle=\"collapse\" data-bs-target=\"#gsdscc-rules-member-expectations\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"gsdscc-rules-member-expectations\">\n              Council Member Expectations\n            <\/button>\n          <\/h3>\n          <div id=\"gsdscc-rules-member-expectations\" class=\"gsdscc-rules-accordion-body collapse p-3\">\n            To promote ethical behavior and respectful discussion, each council member shall:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Attend council meetings on time and come prepared.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Make decisions with the best interests of students as the primary focus.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Listen to and value diverse opinions.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Ensure that the perspectives of those the council represents are considered in discussions.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Be accountable for their actions and expect accountability from others.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Act with integrity.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\n          <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n        <div class=\"gsdscc-rules-accordion border border-1 secondary-color-border mb-2\">\n training to understand their responsibilities.
