Dear Kearns Junior High Families,
Greetings to all of you. I hope your summer is filled with fun and enjoyment. I am elated to welcome our students to an exciting new school year filled with fun and learning. This year has a refreshing feel as we welcome the addition of our 6th grade students and have an increased return to normalcy.
We are pleased to announce that school is scheduled to begin on August 16thth with 6th and 7th grade students attending their orientation day on Thursday, August 12th. This will be a valuable opportunity for students to see their classes, get to know fellow students and their teachers. The orientation will begin at 8:30 and end at 12:15 (Lunch at Noon and students will go home from there).
In March of 2020 our world was changed as the COVID-19 Pandemic impacted our lives in ways many of us wouldn’t have imagined. While we continue to be in a pandemic, the large majority of our educators are vaccinated and children over the age of 12 are eligible to be vaccinated. Vaccinations are considered our best defense against the effects of COVID-19. As we begin this school year, we encourage families to consider getting their students vaccinated if they are eligible. For students and staff that are not vaccinated, we encourage them to continue wearing masks. We will continue to follow County and Granite School District Guidelines pertaining to COVID-19 protocols and procedures and keep our families informed. We will continue to encourage students to wash their hands frequently, stay home if they are sick, continue with practices to allow for social distancing in hallways, and follow protocols for any positive cases. If you have any questions or concerns about our procedures as we begin the school year, please don’t hesitate to call me at 385-646-5211 or email me at email@example.com. Safety is a top priority.
As we begin the school year, please note the following important information:
Registration is online: Registration will open on Monday, August 2nd. All registration will be done online. All necessary forms (including fee waiver) are online. If you need assistance registering online, or have limitations with computer access, please call us at 385-646-5204 appointments as needed. An immunization clinic will be held on August 5th from 10-2 PM for 7th grade students needing immunizations.
6th and 7th Grade Orientation: Orientation will be held on Thursday, August 12th, from 8:30 to 12:15. Students will have the opportunity to attend their classes and meet their teachers. Unfortunately, busing will not be available for students on that day. This is the first day of school for 6th and 7th grade students.
First Day of School: The first full day of school for all students is on Monday, August 16th. School starts at 7:50, with the doors opening at 7:45. Breakfast will be served at 7:20. Monday-Thursday school is released at 2:45 and at 12:30 on Fridays. We will continue this year with students entering the halls by Advisory and Advisory class roles will be posted as well as student schedules will be available in CANVAS.
I look forward to a fantastic year. Please reach out to me if you need any help or have any questions.
