Dear Parents and Guardians of Lincoln Elementary Students,
Welcome to a new school year at Lincoln Elementary School! We are excited to teach and learn from your children.
Our theme this year is “Learning is our Super Power!” and our Motto is: “I am a Scholar. I can get smarter. This work is important. I will achieve great things.” We welcome our scholars to do their best this year and are grateful for the contributions of our parents and community as we work together for excellence as a community of learners.
Over the summer we had some exciting changes at our school. We welcome several new teachers to our school: Miss Farmer and Miss Siegendorf are new Kindergarten teachers. Miss Johnson is a new 1st grade teacher. Mrs. Linford will be teaching 3rd grade and comes to us from Idaho. Mr. Smith joined us this year after teaching at Taylorsville Elementary. Miss Crandall and Mrs. Shelley are the new 5th grade teachers. Miss Elkington is a new teacher aide.
Mr. Kent Nixon is our Assistant Principal this year and will be at the school 2-3 days a week. He speaks Spanish!
Full day kindergarten begins Monday, August 24th and half-day kindergarten begins Wednesday, August 26th.
Our back to school night is Thursday, August 27th from 5:00-6:30 pm.
The first bell is at 8:10 am. Please drop your children off as close to that time as possible, or between 7:45 and 8:10. The late bell is 8:15 am. We have limited supervision before this time and we are concerned for student safety if children are dropped off too early, especially in the winter cold. We continue to serve breakfast in the classroom for FREE for all students every day.
Safety updates: Our bathrooms are being remodeled and are scheduled to be completed in January 2016. Contractors will be working in the evening and weekends and will not be working when school is in session.
North Parking Lot: Please do not drop off your children or park in the north parking lot. This is faculty parking and we will have that area blocked off. You may use the regular drop off areas on the east and south sides of the school. Please do not leave your vehicle unattended and turn your key to be “idle free.” We are asking children to meet on the west side or at the flag pole after school and avoid using the north parking lot.
South drop-off: Kindergarten is dismissed from the south playground area. Please help us out there also by staying with your vehicle and parking only in designated areas. There is no parking by the Stop sign or in areas with curbs painted red. There is a crossing guard to help children cross the street on the south side.
Construction on 300 East: Children must not cross the street in construction zones. There is a crosswalk on HELM AVE. and one on 500 East. Thank you for helping us to keep children safe by using crosswalks.
If you have questions or concerns please contact the school or call at 385-646-4894 and follow us on Facebook or Twitter.
I am honored to be the Principal of Lincoln Elementary and to provide a safe place for our scholars, your children, to learn at the highest levels each day. We, as teachers, administrators, and staff, are committed to the best education for your children and we are going to have a “Super” year!
Mr. Afton Lambson, Principal
