We are looking forward to another great year of learning and partnership at Magna Elementary. Our staff is committed to providing our students with an individualized, balanced education to develop character, intellect, creativity and physical well-being. Our school provides an educational environment that is designed to nurture the academic, social and emotional growth of our students. We know that you have a choice in where you send your child to school, and we are pleased that you have chosen to make Magna Elementary your school community. We are committed to helping every student succeed in school. Magna’s mission statement is: Inspiring learners through educational excellence for a lifetime of global opportunities. Our school theme this year is: Make it a Dream. Our theme was inspired by the book Dream: A Tale of Wonder, Wisdom, and Wishes, by Susan V. Bosak. Every child needs a dream—learning in the 21st Century includes helping students to become “goal getters”. Life success lies in the dreams we have, the goals we set and achieve, in what some researchers have termed “planful competence”.
At Magna Elementary, we believe it is important for families and schools to work together and share responsibility for student success. We very much value family members’ expertise about their children. Families know the child best and we can learn from you. Also, we want our students to know the importance of schools and families together supporting their work at school.
At Magna Elementary we have a lot to celebrate. Our school is a Road to Success School, we are one of seven schools who will be piloting the Overdrive system which is used in our neighborhood libraries, BYU and Utah State. Our students enjoy 36’s quarterly Knighting, Brilliant Bulldog Requirements, BUG (Bringing Up Grades) luncheon, Fresh Fruit and Vegetable program, Every Day Counts, Dog Tags, 4th grade Ski Utah, quarterly No Red Slip Assemblies, Student Data Books, Assemblies, Field Trips, and more.
My door is open to parents and I encourage you to contact me, our faculty, and staff with questions, concerns, suggestions, or if you would like to schedule a time to observe your child’s class. We believe in the potential of each of our students, and we thank you for sharing your children with us.
