Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! The teachers and I are excited to see
all of our wonderful students back in school in just one week. Our theme this
year is “All Are Welcome.” Please join us as we celebrate our
differences, our similarities, our cultures. Everything that makes us one
I’ve included some important information in this email so please read until the end. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me.
Back to School is this Thursday, August 15. Registration will be from 4:00 – 8:00 pm. Meet Your Teachers from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Family Carnival from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. There is a fee for the carnival/bounce houses. They will be set up on the playground.
School Fundraiser – We are going to have our one school fundraiser in September. (PTA’s fundraiser will be in March.) This is the one time of year that we can raise funds to support our students. We use the funds raised for field trips, assemblies, class events and student awards. As important as raising money, we take this time for students to understand the importance of working together as a community and to have fun raising money for a good cause.
We need help in making this event successful, both financially and bringing our community together. We choose not to sell wrapping paper or other products or hiring an outside organization to run an event because when we keep it simple and in our community, we keep the funds right here at school.
Angie Gray is our amazing chair who leads our fundraiser. Please contact her if you have any time in September to help. She will fit our fundraiser into your schedule.

Community Council Meeting – August 23 @ 3:30 pm – Mill Creek’s Community Council will be meeting to discuss the results of the Olympus High Network reconfiguration survey that was completed this summer. I’ve attached the survey results to this email. Our Community Council will meet to review and discuss these results and, if they choose, could vote on whether or not to support reconfiguration. We invite everyone to this meeting.
First Day of School is Monday, August 19 for Grades 1 – 6. School starts promptly at 8:40 am with the Breakfast bell ringing at 8:30 am. Breakfast will be offered to ALL students each and every day. Students may choose not to take food but ALL students will be offered a breakfast meal. Please review the flyer attached to this email.
First Day of School for Kindergarten is Thursday, August 22. All Day Kindergarten and morning session of half day starts promptly at 8:40 am. Afternoon Kindergarten starts promptly at 12:20 pm.
That should be enough information to get us started. I plan on continuing these weekly emails so we can share important information.
