March 18, 2020 Update
Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,
I hope everyone is safe after the earthquake and numerous aftershocks we experienced this morning. The school was officially closed around 10 this morning, but it has been inspected and we have been cleared to reopen tomorrow. We will resume with our scheduled availability of 8am to 3pm. Please swing by if you need to check out a Chromebook or get something from your locker. We are asking that if you need to come to the building that you stop by the main office to let us know you are there, and we ask that you not linger in the building once you have what you need.
We will not be serving lunch tomorrow as it was originally scheduled as a Student Non Attendance Day leading into Spring Break. This means that the next day we will serve lunch is Tuesday, March 24. The district, however, is providing breakfast and lunch at certain schools tomorrow, and if you need/want either of those meals you can go to one of those locations to pick it up. Information regarding which schools will be serving meals can be found on the district website.
Finally, I hope the first day of accessing materials on-line was successful. I know Canvas was down for a little bit of time in the middle of the day, but they got it back up and running. I have encouraged teachers to put additional learning on Canvas that extends beyond the end of next week. I am hopeful this opportunity will help teachers develop a stronger on-line presence that will allow Canvas to be a great resource and support for regular instruction once we begin face to face classes again.
I had the opportunity to be home today to help my wife get our three kids up and running with their on-line work for school, so I know exactly what you are all working through. The teachers and I greatly appreciate the help and support you will be providing to your kids, our students, over the next week and half. We look forward to getting the kids back in the building as soon as it is safe for our community to be out and about and gathering again.
