Promise Partners

United Way of Salt Lake

Oquirrh Hills Elementary is a  Community School and a United Way of Salt Lake Neighborhood Center. This means that together, we work to align all resources and programs into mutually reinforcing strategies to support community-level results. As a backbone agency, United Way of Salt Lake helps align strategies, support shared measurement, mobilize funding, advance public policies and engage volunteers that help support the success of our students and families.

Junior Achievement of Utah/Washington Federal Bank

Junior Achievement is a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching students the importance of financial literacy, saving for college and being career ready. Each year, Junior Achievement recruits volunteers to come in to Oquirrh Hills to teach every student lessons on finance. In addition to these classes, our 5th grade students get a special field trip to the JA Biztown on the 4th floor of the Discovery Gateway to be an adult for a day! They are assigned jobs, earn paychecks and of course get to spend them.

Junior Achievement also partners with Washington Federal Bank to provide a once a month Bank Day for our students. During lunches, students can deposit money into their very own savings account. Savings accounts are free, though $5.00 needs to be deposited into their accounts in order to open one. At the end of each school year, Junior Achievement will match up to $40.00 of free money for your student’s savings account. This is a wonderful service to take advantage of.
