Dear William Penn Families,
It’s hard to believe, but school starts in just 12 days! To help count down the days and get everyone excited for the new school year, we’re kicking off our “12 Days Before School” Challenge—a fun and simple way for students to stay engaged and ready to learn!
Each day from now until the first day of school, we’ll post a short learning activity inspired by one verse of our reimagined version of “The 12 Days of Christmas.” Students who participate in any of the activities will receive a small treat. Students who complete all 12 will earn a small prize. And students who complete today’s challenge will get a medium prize—so jump in today!
🎯 Today’s Challenge:
Read a book cover-to-cover before school starts!
Pick a book you’ll love and dive in today!
📄 How to Participate:
Each day’s activity and a short reflection question will be posted here. Students can either:
- Write their answers on a blank piece of paper each day, or
- Wait until all 12 activities are posted and print a summary form from the same link.
We’ll also have printed forms available at Back-to-School Night for students to complete.
🗓️ Final deadline to submit activities: Friday, August 15th
🎬 Daily Videos:
Each day will come with a silly video to introduce the activity.
Today’s video is a little longer because it explains the whole challenge.

(Starting tomorrow, videos will be less than a minute long!)
📸 Share Your Fun!
We’d love to see your students in action!
Upload pictures of them completing the activities here—as many as you’d like, as often as you’d like! We’ll be sharing highlights on our social media pages so students can see their friends participating and get even more excited for school.
Let the countdown begin—and let’s make these last 12 days fun and meaningful!
