Originally built in 1924, the school was demolished at the conclusion of the 2003 school year. In November of 2004, the students and faculty moved into the stunning new building.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Enrollment <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> William Penn Elementary serves 560 students in grades K-5. Ethnic makeup:<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> 86.6% are Caucasian<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> 8.2% are Hispanic-Latino<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> 3.6% are Asian<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> 1.7% are African American<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\"><strong>Dual Immersion<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\"> William Penn has a Spanish dual-immersion program in grades 1st through 5th. Students rotate classes to benefit from both learning in Spanish and English.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\"><strong>Computers and Technology<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">William Penn has one computer lab, and all classrooms are equipped with a Smart-board.\u00a0 In addition to the lab, there are Chromebook carts for every class in all grades to use for writing\/research\/productivity activities, which allows greater flexibility to track math, language arts, and reading progress. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Student Promotion<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\"> William Penn Elementary students attend Evergreen Junior High and Olympus High School. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>School Background William Penn is located in the suburbs of the east foothills of Salt Lake County.
