I wanted to let the community know that we have almost 100 students over the projected enrollment for this year. It is gratifying that we have so many families that want to come to Plymouth! Because we have an increased student body, we have the opportunity to add three teachers to our faculty. These teachers will be added to the first, second, and third grades. Teachers in those grades have already been asked to collaborate together to populate the new classes. Hopefully, we will have the new teachers on staff by Parent/Teacher conferences.
If you are planning on attending Parent/Teacher Conferences (SEPs) and are the parent of an affected student, please sign up with your child’s current teacher. The new teachers will be on hand to meet with you, get to know your child and hear about the progress your student has made. If your child has been selected to be in the new class, you will receive a letter from me explaining the move, who the teacher is and what the new room will be.
I appreciate your support with this change. By adding new teachers to the staff, we can reduce class size which facilitates better learning and more instructional time with the teacher. I would like to publicly thank the upper grade teachers for agreeing to have the new teachers join the lower grades. We want students to have a good foundation in the lower grades so that, by the time they reach the upper grades, they have the skills and background to be as successful as possible.
If you have any questions or concerns over this change, please contact me and I will be happy to discuss them with you.
