Hello Rosecrest Families!
It’s December and twinkle lights abound! I sincerely wish all of you a bright and peaceful holiday. May your families be well and enjoy this time together. Here are a few December highlights and updates:
A MESSAGE FROM OUR PTA
In years past we have been able to participate in The Santa Shoppe. This allowed students to purchase gifts for friends and family while the proceeds went to families in need during the Christmas Season. Due to COVID, we are unable to hold this beloved (and much needed) event, but still need your help! We would love to help spread some holiday cheer to a few Rosecrest families this year. If you would like to donate items or money please contact Tammy Thornton or the school office. tamarathornton@hotmail.com Thank You SO Much for Your Support!
DECEMBER CELEBRATIONS
Our December celebrations will look a little different this year but hopefully be just as magical! Classes will have parties on December 17th. PTA is doing a RockStar job at making these happen within our Covid parameters. We are also encouraging students to wear their favorite Holiday attire, and we have a playlist all ready to play Name That HolidayTune during lunch. We look forward to bringing back our December traditions next year.
OLYMPUS FOOD PANTRY
The Olympus Food Pantry is now open. This food pantry will serve all families in the Olympus network and is located at Olympus High. It is currently open on Thursdays from 1:30 – 3:00. There are many families experiencing food insecurity that we might never know about. This is a great service to help care for our neighbors.
FRIDAY LUNCHES
Beginning the week of December 7th, we will no longer be serving lunches on Friday. Instead, students may take a lunch bag when they are leaving school on Thursday. The lunches will have protein, grain and fruit or veggie. This is not a program that you need to sign up for. Simply talk with your child about grabbing a lunch on their way home Thursday if this is a need. If you are a distance leaner, you may come pick up a Friday lunch on Thursday.
3RD QUARTER LEARNING DECLARATION FORMS
3rd Quarter Declaration Forms will be due December 18th.This might feel early (it did to me). However, with our two week break in December, we are needing to make declarations earlier to ensure we have sufficient time to plan for the 3rd quarter. The google form can be found on our website or you can access it through this LINK. If you are unable to access the form or have any questions, please call us at the office. We are happy to help!
EXCEL AWARDS
The Granite Education Foundation recognizes great teachers through their EXCEL Awards. If you would like to nominate a teacher, you can do so at https://granitekids.org/excel/ Nominations are due December 11th.
WIND STORM MAKE-UP DAYS
When we had our wind storm this September, Rosecrest students missed two days of instruction. These are school days that must be made up in order to meet the State’s requirements for days in school. Below is a list of changes to the district calendar as well as the two days that we will engage in distance learning to make up for the missed days.

January 12: Distance Learning Day
January 13: Distance Learning Day (Make- up Day)
January 14 – 15: No School
March 24: Distance Learning Day
March 25: Distance Learning Day (Make-up Day)
