Our school has a strong coaching team made of a literacy coach, an instructional coach, and a technology coach. They work hard to support your students teachers so they can support your students. We have created a school coaching vision that we want to share with families. If you have any ideas on how families can support this vision, we would love to hear your thoughts. The vision is, “A school where coaching fosters accountability, reflection, and sustainable collective commitments cultivating a love of learning and high-impact teaching in every classroom.”<\/span><\/p>\n Silver Hills was opened in 1986 to serve the growing population in the Kearns – West Valley City area.\u00a0 It is located near the USANA Amphitheater and overlooks the West Ridge Golf Course.<\/p>\n Students are promoted from Silver Hills to attend either Jefferson or Kennedy Junior Highs who then move on to Kearns or Hunter High Schools.<\/p>\n All classrooms are equipped with Enhanced Technology which includes interactive LCD displays that enable students to view a variety of connections to the Core Standards.\u00a0 Classrooms are also equipped with enhanced sound systems allowing teachers and students to be easily heard within the classroom.<\/p>\n The school patrons and students have access to wi-fi.\u00a0 Each classroom is equipped with enough Chromebooks for each student, allowing students and teachers to interact using the latest technology.\u00a0 In addition, there are two computer labs within the school, each have 35 computers, a projector, and a smartboard.<\/p>\n Our 5th grade STEAM Team meets 4 days a week to learn multimedia tools, engineering strategies, and coding. They also compete annually in the\u00a0 First Lego League<\/a> competition.<\/p>\n An After-school program runs 36 weeks.\u00a0 The program runs M – Th from 3:45 to 5:45 p.m. including 1:40 pm to 3:30 pm on short days.<\/p>\n A full hour of reading and math are taught M \u2013 Th followed by a 45 minute extracurricular activity.\u00a0 Please call the school to register for the after-school program or to be added to the waiting list.<\/p>\n\n\nSchool Background<\/h2>\n
