This program is designed to help students grow, lead, and thrive by making a positive impact in their communities. Through this program, students:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Gain real\u2011world experience<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Boost academic success<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strengthen civic engagement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Build social connections<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support mental wellbeing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Counts as Service?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">VFG broadly defines service as anything done in your school\/home\/community that you are NOT getting paid for and NOT receiving a grade for.<strong> VFG only considers service done within the state of Utah.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Still don\u2019t know what counts? See local organizations at this link:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/u\/0\/d\/1faz3LCP81HE02FDYg-8ZZwGore84NrFETJNfELKaKpg\/edit\">(Google Spreadsheet)<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Do I Log Hours?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Go to the\u00a0Skyline Serves\u00a0site at this link: <a href=\"https:\/\/skylineserves.graniteschools.org\/\">skylineserves.graniteschools.org<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Browse the available opportunities, and find the one you\u2019d like to participate in<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the opportunity, and then click \u201cSign Up\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Navigate to the \u201cMy Opportunities\u201d tab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Find the opportunity that you completed, and click the yellow \u201cLog Time\u201d button<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Complete the form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dates and times can be left blank<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Describe what you did to earn hours under the \u201cNotes\u201d section<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Write a brief paragraph reflecting on your experience under the \u201cReflection\u201d section<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Save and submit the form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click \u201cSave\u201d once you have completed the form<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If needed, upload an image or supporting document to verify your participation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Can VFG Help Me?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Get recognition for the service you already do! You can earn a certificate, graduation cord, and\/or a medallion by logging a certain number of service hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Doing service helps you develop empathy, time management, leadership, organization, compassion, and much more. It also allows you to explore areas you are interested in and learn more about different communities and their needs. Volunteering also counts as work experience and the skills you gained from volunteering can be added to your resume. Additionally, it sets you apart on job and college applications. Colleges like seeing that you are committed to serving others and dedicated to something you find passion and interest in. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Do I Earn Awards?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Earn a <strong>Certificate of Service<\/strong> by completing <strong>25 hours of service during each year of high school<\/strong>. Make sure to <strong>log your hours by May 1st<\/strong> of each school year.
