Area of Distinction and Diploma of Merit are special awards all students can work towards receiving for graduation.

Area of Distinction
Each Area of Distinction is an award a student may receive based upon excelling in a specific area. There are 19 total awards (areas), and a student can complete as many as he/she/they would like. Students who earn an Area of Distinction will receive a sticker on their diploma. Area of Distinction recipients will be recognized online, as well as in the Taylorsville High School commons area.

All applications must be submitted to the Area of Distinction representative by March 3, 2023.
Diploma of Merit
The Diploma of Merit is a separate award that requires a student complete 2 or more Areas of Distinction, in addition to the credit requirements listed below. Students do not need to apply for the Diploma of Merit, they only need to complete the requirements for 2 Areas of Distinction. Students who earn the Diploma of Merit will receive a different style diploma.
Diploma of Merit Credit Requirements
- Complete 2 or more Areas of Distinction
- 3.5 GPA and 3.0 CPA
- These are not the same credit requirements as the graduation requirements, they are slightly different.

Outstanding Senior Award
The Outstanding Senior Award recognizes seniors who have immersed themselves in their high school life and participated in activities, sports and clubs while maintaining academic excellence. Congratulations to all of our 2022 Outstanding Senior Award Winners! Their achievements will be recognized on May 10th during the school’s Annual Awards Banquet.
