Test to Stay

Salt Lake County Health Department Threshold Letter

This testing program is in conjunction with the state and local health departments, Granite District, and the UHSAA to help ensure the safety of our staff and students.

Who it’s for: All students and staff attending Taylorsville High School.

Students on a hybrid schedule are required to be tested if they wish to come on campus. Distance learners are encouraged to participate in this testing opportunity, even though they do not physically attend in person. Please arrive at the school during regular school hours, and you will be directed to the testing area.

If your student has previously been instructed to quarantine, please continue to adhere and complete your quarantine per the guidance provided by the Health Department. If they are on or past their 7th day of quarantine, they can come get tested to be able to return. If your child has tested positive within the last 90 days, and are out of isolation, please provide evidence of their positive test and they will not be required to test again.

Testing Dates: Testing will take place throughout the day on Wednesday, January 20 and Thursday, January 21. The students will be called down alphabetically out of their classes.

Testing is not mandatory, but those who do not participate will need to dismiss to distance learning for a 10-day period (including GTI and classes at other locations).

Parents will need to provide consent as soon as possible before testing.

Test Results: These rapid tests produce results within 15-30 minutes after taking the test.

  • Positive Result: Individuals that test positive will be dismissed for quarantine per the recommendations of the Health Department.
  • Negative Result: A negative test means the student or staff member can continue with in-person learning.

How it‘s administered: This test is a quick nasal swab, and the results will be emailed to you on the same day. If you do not have email, you can request to receive paper copy at the time of the test.

Provide Consent: Parents must fill out and complete the consent form, not the student. By doing so, you give consent for your child to be tested for the duration of the school year.

You only need to complete the consent form once. If you have previously filled out the consent form for a previous rapid test, including Test to Play, you do not have to complete it again.

Test to Play

This testing program is in conjunction with the state and local health departments, Granite District, and the UHSAA to help ensure the safety of our students and to continue our extracurricular programs.

Who it’s for: The ‘Test to Play’ rapid COVID testing is only for student athletes and extra-curricular fine arts students. Students who do not get tested, will not be able to participate in these programs.

How it‘s administered: This test is a quick nasal swab, and the results will be emailed to you on the same day. If you do not have email, you can request to receive paper copy at the time of the test.

Testing Dates: Students must be tested every two weeks. Only kids that test negative will be allowed to practice or compete in extra-curricular activities.

  • First Test: December 11, 2020 at Taylorsville High School
  • Follow-up Tests: Every-other Friday after the first test for the remainder of the year.

Provide Consent: Parents must fill out and complete the consent form, not the student. By doing so, you give consent for your child to be tested every two weeks for the duration of the school year.

You only need to complete the consent form once. If you have previously filled out the consent form for a previous rapid test, you do not have to complete it again.
