We need Taylorsville City citizens to be invested and involved to help lift and strengthen one another and, in turn, our community. Our school meets requirements to be a Title 1 school and receive extra funding, but there are other schools in our district with greater needs, so we will not receive extra funding, and we need community members to help where they can!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Projections show by 2025, 25% of the student body will be English language learners.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Projections show by 2025, 50% of the student body will be from families living below the poverty level.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>With COVID-19 repercussions and the current economic climate, many have been struggling socially and emotionally.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Our school recently reconfigured to add the 9th graders, and we want them to feel welcome and supported by other students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Can You Help?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Spend time once a week and volunteer, donate clothing items or money.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Help fill needs through a service project with family, church, work, club, or class reunion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Spread the word to others!&nbsp; Bring a friend to the school to serve or help organize or carry out a project.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>English Language Learners Support<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Come and just talk with students! We need you for a minimum of one hour once a week to help students new to the area converse in English and help reinforce and practice what they are taught.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We are asking for a semester-long commitment if possible but will take any and all helpers we can get!&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Volunteers would be working with a small group of students in the classroom in learning basic English skills.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You don\u2019t need to be able to speak another language to volunteer.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Details are included in the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/14X1b7-IiFbwtrT6TE7ew-7Dv0-MXMk-dE7WvJGwFSIs\/edit?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">English Language Helpers Sign Up (Google Spreadsheet)<\/a>. For any other questions, contact <a href=\"mailto:jjritter@graniteschools.org\">Dr. Ritter<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Wellness Center and Food Pantry<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our new Wellness Center was created to provide a space for students to have access to social workers for social and emotional support.
