{"id":43149,"date":"2026-03-18T11:55:34","date_gmt":"2026-03-18T17:55:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/schools.graniteschools.org\/taylorsvillehigh\/?page_id=43149"},"modified":"2026-10-21T14:22:56","modified_gmt":"2026-10-21T20:22:56","slug":"volunteer-for-good","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/schools.graniteschools.org\/taylorsvillehigh\/counseling-center\/counseling-scholarships\/volunteer-for-good\/","title":{"rendered":"Volunteer for Good"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What is Volunteer&nbsp;For&nbsp;Good?&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Volunteer for Good is Utah\u2019s statewide initiative that engages high school students in meaningful community service.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This program is designed to help students grow, lead, and thrive by making a positive impact&nbsp;in&nbsp;their communities.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through this program, students:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Gain real\u2011world experience\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Boost academic success\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Strengthen civic engagement\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Build social connections\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Support mental well\u2011being\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Get&nbsp;<strong>recognition&nbsp;<\/strong>for the work you do! Students can earn a<strong>&nbsp;certificate, graduation cord, and a medallion.&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What Counts as Service\/Volunteering?&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anything that you do that gives back to the&nbsp;community&nbsp;and you are NOT paid for it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are so many things that count as volunteering, you&nbsp;probably are&nbsp;doing something already.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Volunteering can be done anywhere (locally),&nbsp;it does not need to be done at school<strong>.&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Examples of service&nbsp;opportunities: click&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/open?id=1APHIY1Wx0FvKSDkpOfeJGfQMbqOa9Nuk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a><strong><\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Organizations &amp; places YOU can volunteer at: click&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/u\/0\/d\/1faz3LCP81HE02FDYg-8ZZwGore84NrFETJNfELKaKpg\/edit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a><strong><\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How to log your hours:&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Go to\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/taylorsvilleserves.graniteschools.org\/\">Taylorsville Serves Website<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Register for the Opportunity:\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Browse\u00a0<\/strong>the available opportunities and find the one\u00a0you&#8217;d\u00a0like to\u00a0participate\u00a0in.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Click\u00a0<\/strong>on the opportunity and Click\u00a0<strong>\u201cSign Up\u201d<\/strong>.\u00a0This will register you for the opportunity.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Access Your Opportunities:<\/strong>\u00a0<br>&#8211; Click the dropdown arrow next to your name in the upper right corner of the page. From the menu, select &#8220;My Opportunities.&#8221;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Log Your Hours:<\/strong>\u00a0<br>&#8211; Find the opportunity you completed.<br>&#8211; Click the red &#8220;Log Time&#8221; button.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Complete the Form:<\/strong>\u00a0<br>&#8211; Enter the total number of hours volunteered.\u00a0<br>&#8211; You do not need to worry about the start or end times.\u00a0<br>&#8211; Write a brief paragraph\u00a0reflecting on\u00a0your experience.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Save the Form:\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<br>&#8211; On the next page, upload an image or supporting document to verify your participation (if needed.)\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Graduation cord &amp; Certificate Requirements<\/strong>:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">25 hours per year = a certificate for that year&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Class of 2030: 100 hours = Graduation Cord&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Class of 2029: 100 hours = Graduation Cord&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Class of 2028: 90 hours = Graduation Cord&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Class of 2027: 65 hours = Graduation Cord<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hours must be logged by\u00a0<strong>May 1st\u00a0<\/strong>of their graduating year.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How do I get a medallion?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are 2 routes to get a medallion:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>#1<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;40-hour, school-approved service project that makes a meaningful and lasting impact.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>#2<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; Do 200+ hours of service for your community.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both routes<strong>\u00a0require\u00a0<\/strong>you to\u00a0<strong>submit\u00a0an application<\/strong>\u00a0by February 26th and to\u00a0<strong>write a reflection<\/strong>\u00a0by May 1st of the current year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can grab an application from Jordan in the Career Center. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is Volunteer&nbsp;For&nbsp;Good?&nbsp;&nbsp; Volunteer for Good is Utah\u2019s statewide initiative that engages high school students in meaningful community service.&nbsp; This program is designed to help students grow, lead, and thrive by making a positive impact&nbsp;in&nbsp;their communities.&nbsp; Through this program, students:&nbsp; Get&nbsp;recognition&nbsp;for the work you do!
